how to get your steps in when it's raining

It doesn't mean you can't get your steps in, just because it's raining.

Here are FIVE of our TOP TIPS that will help you to still reach your step targets - no matter the weather!

CLEANING

This one will surprise you!

Cleaning can seriously increase your steps. You'll be walking around more than you'll realise and your average heart-rate while cleaning may also surprise you.

UTILISE THE TREADMILL

Adding a bit of time on the treadmill before or after your workout can add a bunch of steps to your daily count. Some CBS clients (including our Coach and Trainers) visit the gym purely for walking on the treadmill if it's terrible weather. You can also watch movies, listen to podcasts and stimulate your mind while walking safely on the treadmill so it's really just a big win-win!

WALK IN THE RAIN ANYWAY

It probably depends on your mood but don't you feel like it can be revitalising walking in the rain. Given it's not too cold and you have a comfy jacket to wear, it can be a really nice experience. You come home, dry off and steps are closer to being achieved.

Plus the benefit to your mental health of getting outside and experiencing the beauty of nature and rain.

Doesn't happen often!

CHORES

Similar to cleaning but also slightly different. Chores are usually jobs that are more active than cleaning such as: vacuuming, taking out the trash, cleaning your car, running errands, fixing anything broken around the house, replacing light bulbs, watering plants - I'm sure you get my drift.

STRETCHING

Having a good, long stretch at home can increase your step count and overall mood!

Make it longer than 10 minutes and make it a little more dynamic (moving stretches).

Make sure you hold the stretch for long enough but also that you're maintaining regular movement.

Increased circulation, increased positivity, increased flexibility, increased chance of muscle recovery and increased steps.
